Privacy Policy
Last updated 5 October 2026
This policy explains what personal information Active Equities Inc. — an Alberta corporation in business since 2011, based in Vancouver, British Columbia, and operating as ActiveQ — collects, why, and what we do with it. It covers activeq.io and the ActiveQ products that link to this page.
Individual products may publish their own privacy policy. Where one exists, it is the authoritative policy for that product and it prevails over this one for anything it covers — this policy does not describe how any individual product handles data. Vex has its own, at vex.activeq.io/privacy.
1. What we collect
Three kinds of information, and no more than we need for the thing you asked us to do.
- What you give us. If you email us, the address you write from and whatever you put in the message. If you use the Book a call form on this website, the name, email address, organisation and message you enter: they are sent to us as an email so we can reply, and are not kept in any database on this website. If a product has accounts, the details you enter when you create one.
- What you connect. If you sign in with Google or connect a Google account to an ActiveQ product, the data covered by the permissions shown on Google’s consent screen at the moment you connect. Section 4 covers this in detail.
- Technical information. Ordinary server and product logs — IP address, browser, pages or actions, timestamps — used to keep the services running, secure and debuggable.
- Analytics and advertising on this website. activeq.io uses Google Analytics and PostHog to understand how the site is used — pages viewed, which links and buttons you click (including email links), how far down a page you scroll, which fields of the booking form you fill in or leave (the field, never what you type in it), referrer, approximate location, device and browser, the campaign parameters in the link you followed (such as
utm_source) and, when you arrive from an ad, the advertising click identifier (such as Google’sgclid). Both set cookies or equivalent browser storage. Our Google Analytics property is linked to our Google Ads account, so this information is also used to measure and improve our advertising; section 10 explains how, and how to opt out. PostHog also records session replays: a reconstruction of the pages you saw and where you clicked, scrolled and moved, so we can see where the site is confusing. What you type into a form is masked in replays; text the page itself shows remains visible. Replays are not linked to a name or an email address. Neither is loaded on preview deployments or in local development — production only.
2. Why we use it
To provide and operate the service you are using, to answer you when you get in touch, to keep accounts and systems secure, and to meet our legal obligations. On this website we also use it to understand how the site is used and to measure and improve our marketing and advertising, including learning which of our ads and search results bring people here. We do not sell personal information and we do not share it with data brokers. On the public website we do use Google’s analytics and advertising features, as described in section 10.
3. Who else sees it
A small number of service providers process data on our behalf so the sites and products can run — hosting and delivery (Vercel), analytics on this website (Google Analytics, from Google LLC, and PostHog Inc., both in the United States — see section 1), advertising measurement for this website (Google Ads, also Google LLC, United States — see section 10), email delivery for the booking form on this website (Resend, United States), and the email and infrastructure providers a given product depends on. They may only use the data to provide their service to us, with one exception we want to be plain about: where Google’s advertising features apply, Google also handles the information under its own privacy policy and your Google account settings, as section 10 describes. We also disclose information where the law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of users and of the company.
4. Google user data
Where an ActiveQ product asks you to connect a Google account, it requests only the permissions shown to you on Google’s consent screen at the time you connect. That screen is the authoritative list for the product you are using — it is generated by Google from the scopes the app actually requests, which is why this policy points you to it rather than restating it.
- We access Google user data only to provide the feature you connected the account for.
- We do not sell Google user data, and we do not use it for advertising.
- We do not use Google user data to develop, improve or train generalized artificial intelligence or machine-learning models.
- No human at ActiveQ reads your Google user data, except with your explicit consent for a specific purpose (for example, a support request you raise), where it is necessary for security or to investigate abuse, or where the law requires it.
- You can withdraw access at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions, which stops any further access immediately.
5. Limited Use
ActiveQ’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
6. How long we keep it
For as long as you are using the service, and after that only as long as we need it for the purpose it was collected for or to meet a legal obligation. When you disconnect a Google account, delete your account, or ask us to delete your information, we remove it from our live systems and it ages out of routine backups. Email you have sent us is kept as ordinary business correspondence.
7. Your rights
Canadian federal law (PIPEDA) and British Columbia’s Personal Information Protection Act give you the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected, and to have it deleted. Write to privacy@activeq.io and we will respond. If you are not satisfied with how we handle a request you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, or to the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia.
8. Where data is held
Our providers operate infrastructure in Canada, the United States and elsewhere, so your information may be stored or processed outside the province or country you live in, and may be subject to the laws of those places.
9. Children
ActiveQ products are built for business use and are not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under sixteen. If you believe a child has given us information, write to us and we will delete it.
10. Cookies, analytics and advertising on this website
This section is about the public website, activeq.io. It does not change anything in sections 4 and 5: Google user data from an account you connect to a product is never used for advertising. On activeq.io we use:
- Google Analytics to understand how the site is used. We use Google Analytics Advertising Features, including Google signals: where you are signed in to a Google account and have allowed ads personalisation, Google may associate your visit with your Google account information to give us aggregated demographics and interests, and cross-device reporting. We do not receive information that identifies you from this.
- Google Adsto measure whether our advertising works, and so that our ads can be shown to people who have visited this site. Our Google Analytics property is linked to our Google Ads account with ads personalisation enabled. This uses Google’s advertising cookies and identifiers.
- PostHog for website analytics and the masked session replay described in section 1.
Your choices. You can opt out of Google’s ads personalisation at adssettings.google.com, install the Google Analytics opt-out add-on (tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout), and review or delete activity Google has associated with your account at myactivity.google.com. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser; this website works without them. If your browser sends the Global Privacy Control signal, this website treats it as an opt-out: Google’s advertising storage and ads personalisation are switched off for your visit. Visitors in Quebec have ads personalisation off by default, and visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland get no Google Analytics or Google advertising cookies for the whole visit.
11. Changes
If this policy changes we will update the date at the top of the page, and for a change that materially affects how we handle information already collected, we will say so on this page.
